With Spring just around the corner and my current stage of digging my roots in to THE well of life, I feel like this topic is very aprapos.
How many times have you heard the phrase “bloom where you’re planted”? I don’t think I can count how many times I’ve heard it throughout my life. So let’s go a bit deeper with it…
The idea of this came from watching some tiny little new sprouts on my orchid. To see just how they came from what seemed like nothing amazed me. Yes, I’ve seen things bloom in the past, but this time around it’s just so awe inspiring to watch as they push their way through the dirt, up to the light.
The Light!
Mmmmm, as I’m writing this I’m getting a vision… A vision of God’s hand, reaching down to us in our current season. I don’t know where you’re at right now, but know that God is not far away. He is right there, just waiting for you to persevere. He is cheering you on. “Come on daughter! That’s it!” Can you hear the loving Heavenly Father cheering for you? “You’ve got it son! Just a little bit further. You can do it!”
Wow!
Recently God has been showing me His power in big and small ways, and blooming right where I’m at is a current lesson He’s graciously walking me through.
It’s also extraordinarily thought provoking when it comes to using our gifts, talents, abilities and personalities in the arenas of work, social media, small groups, really anything where you have a platform to share.
Now please hear me, I’m not talking about just mouthing off. I’m talking about sharing from your heart; sharing what the Holy Spirit is giving you that could encourage someone else. And no, it may not seem like much to you, but more often than not when I share from exactly where I’m at it encourages someone beyond what I could think. But that’s God working in His mighty ways!
To me “bloom where you’re planted” means to use what’s in front of you, to take stock of your audience and your friends and followers. Use that social media platform, or that time at work when you’re gathered in the kitchen waiting for the coffee to brew. How about at Bible Study, or book club? Infuse some of you! Use your current spot to shine a light on God’s goodness in the situation. I guarantee you that even if you can’t see His hand, someone else can. God’s gifts are waiting all around and while you may not think of a particular group of people or situation as a gift, it is!
The week before last I took a sticky note out and wrote a little encouragement to myself and left it on my computer screen. Guess what? I completely forgot it was there! The next time I saw it I knew I needed to encourage some of my friends and followers on Instagram, so I stepped out and recorded a video. None of this was planned and that made it quite scary for me, but God used it in the lives of those around me and that made me happy. There is absolutely nothing better than seeing His hand at work in the lives of others!

A while back I wrote something along the lines of things being beautiful and scary. And in this context it fits quite well when speaking of putting ourselves out there.
Only you have the ability to be you! So don’t be so scared of stepping out. If you’re willing, then God will use you!
I don’t know who originally said it, but it’s true! “God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called.” And by being a child of the King, we are called and chosen to do His work! (Eph 2:10 & 19)
Be blessed and fruitful as you go forth, sharing God’s love!
